Website Performance

Website performance is how quickly your site loads and how responsive it feels once a visitor lands on a page — from the first thing they see, to how smoothly the page reacts to scrolling, tapping, or typing.

Why it matters to your business

A slow or unresponsive site is one of the most common reasons a visitor leaves before they ever see what you offer. Speed and responsiveness shape how professional and trustworthy a business looks online, especially to visitors on a mobile connection.

A real-world example

A visitor taps a link to your site on their phone and the page takes several seconds to become usable. Many visitors won't wait that long — they'll leave and try a competitor instead.

Exactly What WebScan Checks

WebScan measures performance using Google Lighthouse, an independent, industry-standard tool for measuring real page performance. For each page we scan, Lighthouse evaluates:

  • How quickly the page loads
  • How quickly the page becomes interactive
  • How visually stable the page is while it loads (so content doesn't jump around as things finish loading in)

We report Google Lighthouse's own performance measurements for the pages we scan. We don't guarantee any specific score, or any particular performance improvement.
